Back From Louisville
I’ve recently returned from spending a week in Louisville for training with Team Expansion. It was great meeting several of the staff that I will be communicating with as I prepare to go to Taiwan. I was also able to meet some others who have decided to pursue missions. The goal of the week was to learn about Team Expansion and the people behind the organization, as well as give the missionaries information that will help make the transition into missions a smooth one. It was exciting for me to be there and get the proverbial ball rolling, but it also made me feel quite anxious to leave for Taiwan.
I’m very excited about what the next few weeks will bring. I’m going to begin spending time at churches and sharing my plans to serve in Taiwan and raising support (prayer and financial). Team Expansion requires that I have 100 prayer supporters and at least 80% of my financial support raised before I purchase my plane ticket. So there is a lot of work to be done between now and my goal of leaving by the beginning of March.
If you would like to join my prayer support team and/or my financial support team, e-mail me at hmptn2002@aol.com and I will get you more information!
Prayer Update 01/01/08
Happy New Year! This year is going to bring a lot of exciting changes. Some of which will be kicking off this weekend. This weekend I will be heading to Louisville, KY for a week of training at Team Expansion’s facility. I will be arriving there Saturday evening where me and a few other interns will be focusing on spiritual formation for a couple of days and the integration of spiritual disciplines. The rest of the week, staff there will be working with me on developing materials that will be helpful to me during support raising, as well as other preparatory things that will be beneficial to me while on the field. I’m very excited and anxious to go through this week as it will “officially” kick off the beginning of this new journey in my life. I would appreciate your prayers as I travel to Louisville and also that God would prepare me for all that I will learn for this week, that it will be a strong building block for all that will follow in the months to come. Also, begin praying for those that will come alongside me with financial support, as this will be a vital part to my ministry in Taiwan.
I know that God is faithful and that He hears our prayers. Psalm 37 has been on my mind a lot lately. ”Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.” It is truly the desire of my heart to serve the Lord in Taiwan; to work with the Chinese young people, giving them the hope that Christ brings that many of them are desperately in need of. I know that my desire for this has not gone unnoticed by God, and that as I continue to commit myself to His cause, He will provide the necessary means for making this possible.
Welcome!
Thanks for visiting my blog, where I will be posting often about all of the things I am doing to prepare for leaving for Taiwan, and sharing plenty of stories of things I experience while I’m in Taiwan. From this website, you will be able to learn many things about Taiwan, and the city I will be working in, as well as different ways you can be involved. I will be posting monthly newsletters, which you can sign up to receive on this site. I will also be posting frequent prayer updates. There will also be information for those of you who wish to become financially involved in this ministry. I’m truly excited about this opportunity and will enjoy sharing my experiences with you through this website. I plan on posting frequently, so come back often!
